Becoming an Indonesian journal in the field of conservation of forest resources and tropical environment which has an international reputation.

Mission

Disseminating the achievements of researchers, especially from Indonesia to the national / international community by publishing the latest and quality research in the field of conservation of forest resources and the tropical environment.

Focus and Scope

Media Konservasi is published by the Department of Forest Resources and Ecotourism Conservation (DKSHE), Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University in collaboration with the Indonesian Biological Association (PBI). This journal focuses on publications in the field of forest resource conservation and the tropical environment derived from research, literature studies and book reviews. This journal accepts manuscripts covering all aspects of ecology, landscape ecology, in-situ conservation of wildlife, sustainable use of plants and wildlife, ethnobotany, bioprospecting, ecotourism, management of conservation & protection areas, urban forests, services and environmental education.

Peer Review Process

Editor in Chief will assign the manuscript to a corresponding Section Editor for further handling. The Section Editor will request at least two scientists to review the manuscript. All manuscripts are subject to blind peer review whose identities will remain anonymous to the authors and are expected to meet the standards of academic excellence. Based on the comments from the Reviewers, Section Editor and Editor in Chief will make the decision on the manuscript.

Publication Frequency

Media Konservasi is published 3 times a year: April, August, and December.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content, on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Article Publishing Charges

Jurnal Media Konservasi charges the following publication fee.

Article publication fee: IDR 500,000.

When a paper is accepted for publication, the author is issued with an article publication fee to cover publication costs before progressing further.

Publication Ethics

Jurnal Media Konservasi is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractices. This publication ethics are developed to avoid misconduct in research and publishing. This publication ethics clarifies ethical behaviour of all parties involved in publishing a scientific article in Media Konservasi. This publication ethics are based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Authorship

Author is defined as an individual who has made a significant contribution to the study. An author should: (1) have a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, analysis, and interpretation of data for the work, (2) actively involved in the writing process in terms of intellectual content, (3) approve the final version to be published. All contributors that meet all of the above criteria should be listed as authors.

Review Process

Media Konservasi is committed to objective and fair double-blind peer-review of the submitted works for publication and to preventing any actual or potential conflict of interests between the editorial and review personnel and the reviewed material. Media Konservasi chooses reviewers based on their expertise (whose most closely matches the topic of the paper). At least 2 reviewers are invited to evaluate a manuscript. In cases of controversy or disagreement regarding the merits of the work, an additional review will be solicited. The Media Konservasi editor mediates all interactions between authors and reviewers.

Publication Decisions

Comments and suggestions from reviewers are taken seriously and weighed based on their expertise. However, Media Konservasi Editor reserves the final decision. The editor of Media Konservasi is responsible for the final decision on article acceptance based on the reviewer's opinions, suggestions, and comments.

Fair Play

Media Konservasi evaluates manuscripts only based on the intellectual content. No race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophies of the authors are considered in the evaluation process.

Confidentiality

Media Konservasi assures the confidentiality of the manuscripts, authors, and other related information on the publishing process. Only corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher allow for the information.

Duties of Author

The authors acknowledge that they have disclosed all and any actual or potential conflicts of interest with their work or partial benefits associated with it. The authors also should assure that the research is original, the analysis only underlying data, and able to retain data for at least 5 years after publication. All authors submitting their works to the journal for publication as original articles attest that the submitted works represent their authors’ contributions and have not been copied or plagiarized in whole or in part from other works. All submitted works will be checked by anti-plagiarism software. Plagiarism detected works will be banned for further publication procedure. Authors who have been determined to have committed plagiarism will be banned for publishing in Media Konservasi. Multiple, redundant or concurrent publication is unacceptable.

Duties of Reviewers

A reviewer has the responsibilities to: (1) provide written and unbiased feedback to the authors; (2) indicate whether the writing is clear, concise and relevant; (3) evaluate the scientific accuracy; (4) identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors to elevate the quality of the manuscript; (5) assure a fair play by avoiding personal comments or criticism including in this point is that reviewer should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest; and (6) maintain the confidentiality of the review process.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Any departures from the above-defined rules should be reported directly to the Editors-in-Chief who are unequivocally committed to providing swift resolutions to any of such type of problems.

The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
The author is asked to recommend at least three (3) names of reviewers (the reviewer should be at least hold a doctoral degree). Please write the name(s) on the Comment for Editor form.

The form should be signed by hand by all of the authors, and should be submitted along with the manuscript in the submission stage.

Media Konservasi is scientific journal which publish article particularly conservation natural resource and environment. The Journal of Media Konservasi has been distributed to several libraries, forest and environment institutions in Indonesia. The media conservation published three series in every year.

The manuscript can be written in Indonesian or English language and willl be published as the writer language. The manuscript which is proposed must be never published in others media. Here writing guidance of manuscript :

Manuscript as science writing based on research, literature study, essay and book review.

1.1 Manuscript or research article must be linked in tittle, writter identity, abstract, key word, preliminary, research method, result and discussion, conclusion and a thank-you note, reference and appendix ( if necessary )

The tittle must be clear and maximum fourteen words in Indonesian and twelve words in English Language
The writer's identity includes the full name of the writer ( avoiding acronym) and puts Arabic number respectively for explanation about writer (may more than one writer). Full address contains institution, institution with full address, telephone and email which can be used to communication quickly and easily.
Maximum abstract consist of 250 words, arranged in one paragraph, written in bilingual, Indonesian and English language clearly, properly, and completely describe the content as the whole article not resume.
Key word contains three until five words which reflects the concept that contained article and arranged according alphabet.
Preliminary (including reason or background of research, issue, purpose, a few of literature study and hypothesis if necessary, sub tittle according with necessary.
Research methodology is described in detail and clear (research location, tools and materials if necessary, research design, data collection technique, management and data analyze).
Result and discussion combined in one chapter. Table and picture could be combined or separated with this chapter within explanation.
The picture (photo, diagram, graph and others) presented in black and white. The color picture will be printed in black and white.
Reference arranged according to name and year. Be arranged according to alphabet surname writer within form:

1.2 Essay article/ research review (equal result) including:

The tittle must be clear and written maximum 14 words in Indonesia and 12 words in English language
The identity of writer contains full name of writer (avoiding acronym) and put Arabic number respectively for explanation about writer (more than one writer). full address of writer contained writer institution, institution within full address and phone number, fax and email which can be used to communicate quickly and easily.
The abstract words maximum 300, arranged in one paragraph, written Bilingual, Bahasa and English language clearly, intact and completely describe whole of contents not resume.
Key word consists about three until feive words.
The preliminary must be without sub tittle
The amount of chapter adjusted with needs

1.3 The review book is a book published three years later. Article to book review consists

The book tittle, author, publisher, publish year, the total of pages and ISBN
Review contents

The manuscript is typed two space in A4 paper within total of pages minimum 15 and maximum 20, the letter is Times New Roman 12; use A4 paper within left margin 4 cm, top margin, middle margin and right margin is 3 cm. At the beginning of the paragraph should be started with first line indents 0,75 cm.
The citation technique according to author date page (ADP) form with including the author name and publish year with use in brackets for first and middle text, and the whole name and year put in brackets to end of text without coma.
The tittle of chapter is not written with number. The numbering of sub chapter uses Arabic number (for instance 1, 1.1. and et cetera) avoid using bulleting.
The research graph send separately from article that accompanied by the program name for arranging the graph and the original data (for instance graph or diagram from data tabulation using MS. Excel then this file needs to be attached as well)
The articles sent to the Media Konservasi through this website.
The author is asked to recommend at least three (3) names of reviewers (the reviewer should be at least hold a doctoral degree). Please write the name(s) on the Comment for Editor form.
The decisions for acceptance, rejection, manuscript loading will be notified to the writer by system.
The entry manuscript also loading process to the journal is the prerogative rights of editor and be a data bank to Media Konservasi journal as well can not be bothered.
The rejected manuscript will not be returned to the writer unless the submission of the manuscript is accompanied by a postage stamp

Authors submitting manuscripts should understand and agree that copyright of manuscripts published are held by Media Konservasi. Copyright encompass exclusive rights to reproduce, to distribute, and to sell any part of the journal articles in all form and media. The reproduction of any part of this journal, its storage in databases and its transmission by any form or media will be allowed only with a written permission from Media Konservasi.

Media Konservasi is accredited (Sinta score = S2) from the Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI) through the Decree of Directorate General of Higher Education No. 200/M/KPT/2020.

Media Konservasi will only accept manuscripts in English

November 4, 2020

To improve the quality and impact of Media Konservasi, starting from the publication of the March 2021 edition, editors will only accept manuscripts in English. Manuscripts published in March 2021 will be available in English. Manuscripts that have been submitted to the editorial staff before the March 2021 period and have not yet been published will be assisted in the translation process.
