Agribusiness Forum

The Agribusiness Forum  is a scientific journal as a communication forum between researchers, academics, and policymakers and practitioners in agribusiness scope and other related scopes. Original writings contain empirical analysis or theoretical review and review of recent books. The Agribusiness Forum is managed by the master of science agribusiness in the Agribusiness Department, Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University. The journal is published twice a year (March and September edition). Agribusiness Forum has been indexed in Science and Technology Index (SINTA 4)  No. 30/E/KPT/2019.

Focus and Scope

The scope of the articles in this journal focuses on the study of agribusiness from a microeconomic and macroeconomic approach. The microeconomic approach includes business policy, marketing, and finances. The macroeconomic approach covering social and economic aspects of agriculture which is a system of comprehensive and integrated with policy governments, international economy, and capitalization of land resources, farmers, and communities.

Peer Review Process

The manuscripts for publication in Forum Agribisnis are judged by peer reviewers. The review process is conducted in a blind review. Chief Editor makes the final decision as to whether the paper is recommended for needs to be returned to the author for revision, acceptance, or rejection.

Chief Editor will evaluate submitted papers for suitability of further review process. The manuscripts will be evaluated by one peer reviewer selected by Chief Editor. The peer reviewers should examine the manuscript and return it with their recommendation to the Chief Editor, usually within 2 or 3 weeks. 

Paper needing revision will be returned to the author, and the author must return the revised manuscript to the Chief Editor via OJS of Forum Agribisnis. Chief Editor will check whether the manuscript is revised as suggested by peer reviewers. Chief Editor could give a recommendation to the manuscript should return to authors, accept, or reject. After the acceptance process, the manuscript is forwarded to the technical editor to be layout. Chief Editor would send an acceptance letter announcing the publication issue attached with manuscript reprint to authors.

The revision manuscript to accommodate peer reviewer suggestions within 2-4 weeks; Manuscripts that exceed the revision deadline will be withdrawn. The authors may request an extension to Chief Editor before the revision expires. The time interval from the date the manuscript is submitted to the acceptance for publication varies, depending on the time required for review and revision.

Manuscripts are rejected usually for 3 general reasons: 1) The topic of a manuscript does not fit in the journal scope. 2) The substance of the manuscripts does not meet Jurnal Agribisnis Indonesia standards; the data may be incomplete; the methodology used is not appropriate; or there are no consistency among objectives, research design/method, evidence, and conclusion. 3) The manuscript is not written following Forum Agribisnis guidelines in instruction. The manuscripts may be rejected without the review process or the manuscripts could also be rejected in the review process if authors do not revise the manuscripts as suggested by reviewers.

Reprints of all manuscripts will be provided to the corresponding author. Authors submitting manuscripts should understand and agree that the copyright of manuscripts published is held by Forum Agribisnis. The statement to release the copyright to Forum Agribisnisis stated in “Form Pernyataan”. Copyright encompasses exclusive rights to reproduce, to distribute, and to sell any part of the journal articles in all forms and media. 

Ethics Policy

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Forum Agribisnis is a peer-reviewed journal published by Master Science of Agribusiness, Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University in collaboration with Agribusiness Association of Indonesia (AAI). This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the chief editor, the associate editors, the peer-reviewer­­­­­ and the publisher. This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed Forum Agribisnis is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher and the society.  

Master Science of Agribusiness as publisher of Forum Agribisnis take its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing extremely seriously and we recognize our ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. In addition, we will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful and necessary.

Publication decisions

The editor of the Forum Agribisnis is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The plagiarism screening of the manuscripts is done by plagiarism checker. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair play

An editor at any time evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.

Promptness

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Duties of Authors

Reporting standards

Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention

Authors are asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data (consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases), if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

Originality and Plagiarism

The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication

An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects

If the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published work

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

   

Publication Frequency

This journal is published twice a year (March and September Edition) by the Master Sciences of Agribusiness (MSA), Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management, Bogor Agricultural University.

How To Register

  1. The author should register through the following address: http://journal.ipb.ac.id/index.php/fagb
  2. The author should fulfill the form On the Confirmation Register section, please give your selection as an author, reviewer, or both of them. After all the form was filled, click on "Register" to process the registration.
  3. Go to User Home and select your role as Author. Click on "Click here: to go to step one of the five-step submission process" in Active Submission.
  4. These are the five-step submission process:
  • Step 1. Starting the Submission On the Journal Section, select the appropriate section of the journal, i.e. Articles. The author has to check-mark on the submission checklists. Please click on the "Save and Continue" button to go to the further step.
  • Step 2. Entering the Submission's Metadata.
    An author should enter metadata of all authors engaged in the writing process. The information of the manuscript title, abstract, and keywords must be filled in the textbox.
  • Step 3. Uploading the Submission
    The author should click Browse to find the manuscript file on the hard drive. Choose the file and click the Upload button. Once the submission is uploaded, click Save and Continue on the bottom of this page.
  • Step 4. Uploading Supplementary Files
    The supplementary file that should be uploaded is Form Pernyataan, consisting of Statement of Originality and Copyright Release Form. Therefore, click on the Browse button, choose the file, click on the Upload button, and click on Save and Continue.
  • Step 5. Confirming the Submission
    The author has to check that all documents are complete. To submit the manuscript to FORUM AGRIBISNIS, click the Finish Submission button. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgment by email. The author will and will be able to view the submission's progress through the editorial process by logging in to the journal web address site.
